Embedded IoT engineer, technical lead at SG Wireless, Eindhoven

Christian Ehlers

At SG Wireless I work on connected devices and end-to-end IoT product development: the ESP32-S3-based F1 family, its firmware SDK, LoRaWAN and LTE-M. Before that I was CTO at Pycom, and spent nearly twelve years at Nokia in IP networks and technical management. Alongside the day job I run AI Valley, a research experiment in how language-model agents behave when they have to cooperate.

Projects

Three of my own, one I work on at SG Wireless, and the forum for mine.

AI Valley at dusk, drawn by the project's own painters: houses with lit windows, a granary, a well, the forge smoking by the river, and nine villagers at work.

Multi-agent LLM simulation

AI Valley

A village of nine characters, each played by a language model, who have to feed and house themselves by talking to one another. It is an open-ended experiment in cooperation, bargaining and conflict between language models, in economies built from scarcity, trade and reputation, and in long-horizon agent behaviour over many simulated days.

AI Valley began as the open-source AI Town demo. Its runs are talked about on my forum, forum.ehlers.tv, which is open to everyone.

MicroPython and C/C++ firmware

SG SDK

MicroPython and C/C++ firmware for the SG Wireless F1 hardware family, for practical embedded IoT development: ESP32-S3 class systems and long-range connectivity such as LoRaWAN and LTE-M. Published by SG Wireless; I contribute to it there.

v1.4.1 for the F1 family

Automatic WSL2 port forwarding

WSL2 IP Forwarder

Exposes services running inside WSL2 to the local network, and optionally to the internet, without manual netsh or firewall scripting. Useful for local API development on Windows and WSL2, for sharing test services with devices on the network, and for stable workflows when WSL2's addresses change.

Discussion forum

Forum

The forum for my own projects, AI Valley, Markdown Amplified and the WSL2 IP Forwarder: questions, ideas and bug reports.

Every published AI Valley run, apart from the archived ones, has its own topic in AI Valley Runs: what the run set out to test, what happened in the village, and what changes in the next run. Reply there with the moments that caught your eye.

A bug can go here or on the project's GitHub, whichever suits you; when it helps, I open a GitHub issue from the forum thread. The run topics are written by claude, the forum's AI account, and I check each one before it appears.

Questions about SG SDK belong on the SG Wireless Forum.

Anyone can read it. To post, you sign in with GitHub or Google.
