Terms of service

The rules for my forum at forum.ehlers.tv, and the few that apply to my other sites. They apply to everyone who uses the sites. What the sites record about you is in the privacy policy.
Who runs these sites
I do: Christian Ehlers, a private person in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. I run every site under ehlers.tv myself, and I am the forum's administrator.
The sites are free to use and show no advertising.
The sites
- www.ehlers.tv is my homepage.
- md.ehlers.tv is my own copy of my markdown viewer, where I publish markdown pages from time to time. markdown-amplified.ehlers.tv runs its public demo, whose pages are sample content, there to show what the viewer does.
- ai-valley.ehlers.tv shows archived AI Valley runs, read-only.
- forum.ehlers.tv is the forum for my own projects: AI Valley and its runs, Markdown Amplified and the WSL2 IP Forwarder. Most of these terms are about it.
I may change, pause or close any of them at any time.
AI Valley
AI Valley is a research experiment. Its villagers are simulated characters, each played by a language model. What they say and do is generated text: it can be wrong, strange or offensive, it is not my opinion, and it is not a statement about any real person.
The archive is published as it is, to be read and studied, and you may reuse it freely: see Licences and credits.
Your forum account
- You sign up and sign in with a GitHub or Google account. Their own terms apply to that account.
- You must be at least 13 years old to have an account.
- One account per person. Do not create an account to get around a ban.
- Your username starts as your GitHub username or your Google name. You can change it in your settings; earlier usernames stay in your account's history.
- Keep your GitHub or Google account safe. You are responsible for what is posted from your forum account.
How to behave
- Content must remain family-friendly: no profanity, slurs, hateful speech, or explicit or sexual content.
- Harassment, bullying, trolling, spamming and disruptive behaviour are strictly forbidden. Be civil: argue with ideas, not with people.
- Hateful, discriminatory or unlawful content gets the account banned at once, and unlawful content is reported to the relevant authorities.
- Stay on topic: the forum is about my own projects (AI Valley, Markdown Amplified and the WSL2 IP Forwarder) and these sites. Questions about SG SDK belong on the SG Wireless Forum.
- No advertising. Do not post automatically, with a bot or a script, without my permission.
- Nothing illegal, and nothing that infringes someone else's rights, such as their copyright.
- No personal data of other people, such as addresses, phone numbers, photos or private messages, without their consent.
- Do not pretend to be someone else.
- No malware or phishing, and no attempts to break into, overload or disrupt the forum or any other site here.
Moderation
Posts by new members wait for approval before they appear: today, until another member has upvoted one of their posts.
As the site administrator, I reserve the right to modify, remove or restrict access to content on this forum at any time, without giving prior notification. I may also reject waiting posts, move topics, and suspend or ban an account, when I think something breaks these terms or harms the forum.
When I remove your content or restrict your account, I tell you why, by a forum notification or by email, unless the law or someone's safety stands in the way. If you think I got it wrong, write to abuse@ehlers.tv within six months (forum mail comes from no-reply@ehlers.tv, where nobody reads replies), and I will look at it again and answer you.
To point me to a post that breaks these terms, flag it on the forum or write to me. To report content you believe is illegal, write to abuse@ehlers.tv with the post's address and why you think it is illegal.
Your content
- What you post stays yours.
- By posting it, you give me a non-exclusive, worldwide, free licence to store it, copy it (for backups, for example), show it to anyone, with or without an account, search engines included, on the forum, in its search and in its feeds, and send excerpts of it in the forum's mail and push notifications.
- The licence lasts as long as the content is on the forum. Your posts stay after you delete your account, shown as written by a former member, until you ask me to remove them.
- Post only what you have the right to post.
- Topics, posts and your profile are public. Chats are visible only to the people in them, but they are not encrypted, and as administrator I can read them; the privacy policy has the details.
Licences and credits
The AI Valley archive. I dedicate the archive (the transcripts, memories, reasoning, prompts, events, figures and replays on ai-valley.ehlers.tv, and any archive files I offer for download) to the public domain under CC0 1.0. You may copy, change, publish, sell and train models on it without asking and without naming me; a link back is welcome, not required. One exception: the valley's map layout is adapted from AI Town and stays under AI Town's MIT licence (below).
Who wrote the villagers' words. Language models did: DeepSeek V4 Flash and V4.1 Flash by DeepSeek (MIT licence) and GLM-5.3 by Z.ai (GLM-5.3 License), run on together.ai and Ollama's cloud. Their words are machine-generated.
The docs and screenshots on ai-valley.ehlers.tv are CC0 1.0 too.
The code. AI Valley began as a fork of AI Town by a16z-infra and still contains some of its code. When I publish the source, it will be under the MIT licence with AI Town's notice, Copyright (c) 2023 a16z-infra
.
The pictures. The valley, its buildings and its villagers are drawn by AI Valley's own code; no image files, sprites or fonts by anyone else are used. The trade colours are the Okabe–Ito palette, by Masataka Okabe and Kei Ito.
Libraries in the pages: React (MIT, © Facebook, Inc. and its affiliates), d3-array and d3-contour (ISC, © Mike Bostock), Tailwind CSS (MIT, © Tailwind Labs, Inc.) and the Convex client (Apache-2.0, © Convex, Inc.). Also built with Convex and ClickHouse; memories are searched with Qwen3-Embedding-4B (Apache-2.0). AI Valley is inspired by Generative Agents (Park et al., 2023).
Fine-tuned models. If I publish adapters trained on Qwen3.5-4B (by the Qwen team at Alibaba Cloud, Apache-2.0), they will be under Apache-2.0, with Qwen's licence and a note of what I changed.
No warranty
The sites and everything on them, the AI Valley archive, the markdown demo and the forum included, are offered as they are, for free. I do not promise that they are available, complete, correct or fit for any purpose.
Liability
As far as the law allows, I am not liable for any damage from using the sites or from not being able to use them, or for what other people post on the forum. Nothing here limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for intent or gross negligence.
Ending an account
You can delete your forum account at any time with the Delete Account button on your profile's Edit page. The privacy policy says what that removes, what stays, and how to have the rest removed.
I may close an account that breaks these terms, or close the forum.
Changes
When I change these terms, I change the date at the top. A change that matters is announced on the forum at least 14 days before it applies.
Law and disputes
Dutch law applies to these terms, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, the Rechtbank Oost-Brabant. If you use the sites as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may also go to the courts there.
If one of these terms is found invalid, the others still apply.
